Burns and Goswick Awarded DWPA Scholarships

Prescott, AZ—May 30, 2019—Emma Burns and Julia Goswick, recent graduates of Tri-City College Prep, have been awarded scholarships from the Democratic Women of the Prescott Area (DWPA). The DWPA Scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors based on an essay, the competitive basis of high scholarship, campus leadership and service, and promise of future contributions to our society.
Emma Burns not only graduated from Tri-City College Prep this year, but also fulfilled and graduated with an Associates degree from Yavapai College. She was a member of the National Honors Society, National English Honors Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honors Society), Rho Kappa (National Social Studies Honors Society), Tri-M Music Honors Society and the Science National Honors Society.
She is the Vice-Chair of the Young Democrats of the Prescott Area and the Secretary of the Young Democrats of Arizona. Burns is also finishing an internship with the Northern Arizona Climate Change Alliance. She coordinated their social media, leads phone banks and door knocking events. She plans on attending Northern Arizona University in the Fall.
Julia Goswick, Student Council President, graduated from Tri-City College Prep this year. She was the President/Team Captain of Envirothon, which is a competitive nationwide club, where students work in groups of five and compete at the state level in soils, wildlife, forestry, aquatics and a current issue. In 2018 her team qualified at the international level against 52 other teams from all over the world such as China and Canada.
Goswick also volunteers at Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Launch Pad Teen Center and the Tri-City College Prep High School as a tutor. A member and President of the Science/Honors/Science National Society, Mu Alpha Theta (National Math Honors Society), National English Honors Society, National Honors Society, National Society of High School Scholars and the Northern Arizona University Math Competition, she is planning on attending University of California, Berkeley in the Fall.
The Democratic Women of the Prescott Area (DWPA) is a 527 political committee with membership open to any registered Democrat. It is affiliated with the national and state Federations. The DWPA board grants Emerge Arizona scholarships to train Democratic women to run for office and college scholarships for graduating seniors who are registered Democrats or, if they are too young to vote, who have a Democratic parent, grandparent or guardian.
