Policy: NEIGHBOR2NEIGHBOR PROGRAM

Purpose

To encourage civic engagement, build stronger community ties, and promote inclusivity by offering a designated amount of reimbursement for expenses to members/friends hosting neighborhood gatherings in their homes, in support of the party and/or party candidates.
Events should promote:

  • Inclusion and equity

  • Democratic dialogue

  • Neighborliness

Eligibility Criteria

  • The host must be a DWPA member or friend and a resident of the neighborhood or precinct where the event will be held.

  • The event must be open to all Democratic or Democrat-leaning neighbors within the defined area or precinct. A list of registered Democrats in your area can be obtained from the Yavapai County Democratic Party (928.541.0413).

  • The goal for a neighborhood gathering is to attract a minimum of 20 Democratic or Democrat-leaning neighbors, supported by a sign-in sheet or record. [Note: This may require inviting 3-4 times the number of people host hopes to attend.]

  • The event must be non-commercial.

  • Alcohol must not be sold (may be served, responsibly).

  • The host must submit a simple application and agree to the program provisions. outlined here.

$ Amount of Support

  • Up to $200 per event, depending on the size and scope

  • Funds from DWPA must be used only for event-related expenses only [examples: refreshments (non-alcoholic), flyers/invitations (including postage), activity supplies, etc.] and supported by host-provided receipts. In no case may payments function as stipends or compensation for host services, which are considered voluntary.

Application Process

  1. Application Form: Must be submitted at least 4 weeks before the event.

  2. Review: Applications will be reviewed and approved by the Political Action Committee chair(s).

  3. Fund Disbursement: Funds will be paid to the host by check, within two weeks of receipt submission.

Post-Event Requirements – Host will submit:

  • Short report (e.g., number of attendees, highlights, what went well, suggestions for improvement, etc.) with at least one photo for publication in DWPA newsletters, website, and/or press releases, to DWPA Communications chair (insert email), who will forward the report information to the PAC chair.

  • Expense receipts reflecting the amount of $ Support to be provided by to the DWPA treasurer (insert email), within two weeks after the event.


Limitations

  • Maximum of one payment per household per year.

  • Priority may be given to first-time applicants or areas of limited Democratic representation and/or engagement.

  • Total funding for all gatherings is capped per fiscal year (maximum $2000).
