This event offers an opportunity to connect with Democratic legislators as well as candidates. It also coincides with International Women's Day. The keynote speaker will be Rep. Jennifer Longdon, AZ House LD24, and guest speakers will be House Minority Leader Charlene Fernandez, and Minority Whip Athena Salman.
In 2004, Jennifer Longdon was paralyzed in a random drive-by shooting, changing the trajectory of her life overnight. Before the shooting, Jen was a successful businesswoman and provider to her family. After the shooting she struggled to stay afloat, losing her health insurance while lying in a hospital bed in a coma and confronting poverty head on. But in the face of such adversity, Jen triumphed.
Longdon became a tireless advocate for the disabled. She is a graduate of the Center for Progressive Leadership (2010) and Emerge Arizona’s candidate training programs (2012). She was a TEDx speaker and has been featured in local, regional, national and international news outlets.

This is it! We are now in election mode and we have to be fired up and ready to go. We have so many candidates to support just in our own state and it will keep us all busy right up to election day.
And then there’s the presidential election. That’s keeping us all on edge, but we’ll have to go with it and support whoever our Democratic candidate is because the alternative is no more country as we know it.
To get fired up we hope you will join us at the Women in Blue event on Sunday, March 8. We have some amazing speakers from our legislature such as our Keynote Speaker Representative Jennifer Longdon, our House Minority Leader Charlene Fernandez, and our House Minority Whip Athena Salman. They will fill us in on what bills are important and which ones we need to help them fight to remove.
At the national level we need to turn the Senate blue, so we need Mark Kelly representing us and it will take a lot of us getting out the vote in November to make this happen.
We know our work is never done, that’s why we are strong Democratic women ready to “Stand Up & Stand Together” to make a difference and take back our country.
