Guest speaker​ - Raquel Terán

Raquel Terán is an American politician from the state of Arizona. She is a Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives who has represented District 30 since January 14, 2019. In 2021, Terán was elected Chair of the Arizona Democratic Party.

Terán was born in Douglas, Arizona. Her citizenship was challenged in court by an anti-immigration advocate in 2012, and again after her 2018 election. The lawsuits were both dismissed.

Terán was a leader of the Latino-led movement that organized a decade ago following the passage of SB1070, a state law that targeted people living in the country illegally. She worked on successful efforts to recall the bill’s sponsor, former Sen. Russell Pearce, and defeat Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
